Calling all adrenaline junkies! Africa is home to some incredible extreme activities, which will satisfy even the most daring thrill seeker!

From sandboarding to skydiving, your trip to Africa won’t be short on thrills! Check out our list of the top 5 adrenaline activities to try while you’re away.

Climb Kilimanjaro

At nearly 6000m tall, Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain. Climbing it is a must for any extreme activity lover. It’ll take you a week to conquer, and you’ll have to get used to the altitude, but the views from the top are totally worth it! Take up the challenge on our Climb Kilimanjaro programme.

Shark Cage Diving

Next up on our list is an underwater encounter with Great White Sharks. Climb into a shark cage and be lowered beneath the surface as Great Whites swim thrillingly close. These powerful and majestic creatures are breathtaking, and you’ll never forget seeing them in their natural habitat. Why not volunteer on shark boats in South Africa and enjoy included shark dives on our Great White Shark & Whale Conservation programme?

The World’s Highest Bridge Bungee

Connecting the Eastern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa is Bloukrans Bridge, which crosses the Bloukrans river. This is home to the highest commercial bridge bungee jump in the world! Get your adrenaline pumping as you leap some 160 metres before bouncing back up! Have a crack at this life-changing jump on our Garden Route Road Trip (bungee jump at extra cost).

Sandboarding in Swakopmund

How do you like the sound of racing down a sand dune on a piece of wood? That’s sandboarding! You can either slide down on two feet like a skateboarder, or lie down on your front and glide head first. This awesome activity is a must if you’re travelling through Swakopmund, a destination that’s included on our 35-day Cape Town to Zanzibar tour!

Skydiving

This is the big one! Leap from a plane and watch the African landscape rush towards you as you fly through the air. Lots of places offer skydiving across Africa, but Cape Town is your best bet. Buckle up, steel your nerves and make the leap. The feeling is incredible!
