Trip in Focus: Vietnam Adventure

When you think of Vietnam what do you think of?

Incredible landscapes? Endless rice paddies? Delicious food, such as spring rolls and noodles? A rich history, with the Vietnam War and the world-famous Cu Chi Tunnels?

The 9 or 12-day Vietnam Adventure covers all of these experiences and so much more! I’ve just returned from this incredible trip and I cannot recommend it enough. Here’s what I got up to over my 12 days in Vietnam:

Stunning Hanoi and Ha Long

The trip starts in Hanoi, where I was picked up at the airport, before being transferred to meet the rest of my group. A few days were spent here exploring the city on foot and by rickshaw before we travelled out to Ha Long Bay. This gorgeous bay, surrounded by towering limestone rocks, is like another planet! A night on a traditional junk boat was followed by a stay on our own private island. It’s you and your group, some kayaks and a beach volleyball court – how cool is that?

Rural Ninh Binh

We then swapped the sea for the endless rice paddies of Ninh Binh. Here you experience something totally different – an insight into rural Vietnam.

A real highlight is a climb to a viewpoint with almost limitless 360 views of the surroundings and tasty local rice wine to be tasted.

Suit Up in Hoi An

Next up: Hoi An, the city of lanterns, famous for its tailoring. Here you can get that suit or dress made for a snippet of the price you’d pay back home!

Home or Ho Chi Minh

If you’re booked onto the 9-day tour then your trip will end with a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. I stayed for the full 12 days (certainly recommended) and had chance to explore Ho Chi Minch City as well as the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi Tunnels.

Out at the Mekong Delta, you experience the local culture, sample some local fruits, and fish for catfish with your bare hands. This ended in a huge mud fight!

From here we headed to the Cu Chi tunnels where we learned all about the rich history of the Vietnam War. We had the chance to head through a tunnel (be prepared to crouch) and see the conditions the Vietnamese fought in. It’s a super interesting experience!

Back in Ho Chi Minh we had a farewell meal, two courses included and a big night out to celebrate the end of our trip!

The verdict?

I’d certainly recommend this trip! The people are so friendly, the trip heads to all the best bits and the beers are only £1, yes £1!!

It’s nice and cheap out there and I only spent £250 during the whole trip. It’s really the perfect way to experience everything and meet fellow travellers in beautiful Vietnam.
